What the Mother meant to say was that the light acquired by Indians due to the country's long-standing spiritual culture is still within their heart while outwardly their minds have become corrupted due to the association with the English people and acceptance of their materialistic values. If these materialistic values are shed, then the hidden light will emerge and be seen outwardly.

This the problem with Indians. They go to the Western countries looking for greater prosperity and comforts which is available there. But at some point they sense that the Western culture is devoid of the rich spiritual and emotional and cultural values that their motherland is filled with and as a result they start feeling empty. Some return after making enough money to live again in the atmosphere that they missed there. Those who are not so spiritually inclined and don't miss anything Indian, happily adjust to their new foreign culture and stay on. It is a question of priorities.
