DAILY MESSAGES
Series XVI 151) The unfamiliar attracts. Culture
is inner humility. 153) Mastery is not to possess greater information but the capacity to
use it more intelligently. 154) The heart harbours only one person. The other person drops off
himself when a newcomer occupies the emotions. 155) Facts belong to memory. Ideas are understood by intelligence.
Experience is for intuition. 156) Mother is a force that changes the horizontal growth into
vertical expansion. 157) If you sell a property and hand over the document and property to
the buyer without demanding payment, I wonder whether anyone will volunteer
payment. My surmise is none. 158) Democracy, education, and culture have not yet created men who
would voluntarily pay taxes. 159) Details belong to memory, perspective demands changed attitude.
The higher is not nobler or greater in any sense, but a newer and wider
social view. The
newer wider view demands greater energy to sustain and the intelligence must
act in more exacting conditions. 160) Demands on the quality of intelligence do not so much increase as
the strength of nerves to sustain intelligence in a more demanding situation. 161) Sentiments fashion sensitivities. Collective emotions make them
sacred. 162) Sentiments and sensitivities are bars to rational culture. 163) Habits handed over is culture. பல நாள் பழகியது பண்பு. 164) Culture preserves itself by insularity. 165) The non-subject hours can make the child SEE what is RIGHT. 166) Intellectuality is like gossip while subtle knowledge spilled
into the atmosphere is like the secret message the king receives. 167) One can never fail if one is cheerfully right. 168) To do things because they are right is better than result
oriented discipline. 169) Not to insist on the right is right. 170) Result-oriented discipline may be good, but not the best. 172) Education is to give end results that are self-explanatory. Man
rises positively. There is no progress lapsing into errors. 174) Education means information as well as attitudes that keep life
under one's control. 175) Life education is to be always successful in spite of increasing
demands on the strength and varieties of the changing situation. 176) Soul's future life is hope. 177) Can the child be led to do the right by itself, as he feels it to
be right? அறியும் உணர்வு தர முடியுமா? 178) Matter discovers its own method. 179) Energy, Will, organisation and skill give results. It
is responsibility that will make a work a success, not money. 181) Teaching the attitude or information is basically the same, not
very different. Attitude can teach attitude more readily. 182) Mother gives what one in a million gets. She gives what not even
one in a million gets, surely not when one expects, but when one knows Her. 183) We want from Mother this or that, while She is looking for one to
whom She can give Herself. 184) She wants us to become Mother, but we do not even want to relate
to Her. 185) Society's excess capacities are really excessive. They are seen
in war times. The most resourceful and
most adorable of them is the courageous passion of people for the land. 186) The vital falsehood of Satyagraha has converted the heroic
sacrifice of devoted lives into internecine warfare of rage and frenzy. 187) To respond to a vibration from outside is worse than giving way
to our own urge, as it enters into the lower vital. 188) What a man is to you is determined by how you treat him and what
he is himself. Negroes
are always proud about being the bearers of bad news. (p.347, Gone with
the Wind.) 189) One who has gone through the trials and tribulations of life will
find in tales of war and famine exact parallels to what he has suffered
inwardly. 190) Human suffering, especially in the past, mostly consisted of the
lack of modern conveniences and intentional human cruelty. 191) The majority of suffering is the one inflicted by the majority. Pain,
in a large measure, resides inside. 193) It is heroic not to complain of pain. Much pain is relieved when
one shouts. 194) As the one who inflicts pain does not feel that pain, the subtle
damages caused by one is felt neither by the one who gives nor the other who
suffers. 195) Which is a SINCERE moment? ― The hour where one sees one's own darkness ― அகத்தின் இருள் தெரியும் நேரம் அன்னைக்கு உண்மையான நேரம். 196) Demands of self-justification are total and complete. 198) He who justifies himself by the events of life, walks into the
trap of Life justifying itself when he is crushed. For
an immediate result you must come forward to give up your problem to
Mother happily. Surrender
to the Absolute takes birth in the Unity of Multiplicity ― The Timeless
in Time. |
