DAILY MESSAGES Series VII 151) Self-giving
in an act helps the self to emerge into the Self. 152) • The
presence of active ego unwilling to submit enables one to convert love into
its opposite when thwarted. •
Desire for submission is often occasioned by the recognition of status. •
Submission caused by love subsisting between them prevents the perversion. •
Instead of hatred, one finds oneself landed in sorrow or disappointment. • In
that sense, sorrow can be thwarted love. 153) When the
most depressing situations are turned over to Mother, they become situations
of the richest emotions ever enjoyed. AߤÀ AvPõµ•® P\UPõx. 154) God is Infinity in infinite dimensions. Moksha opens up the door
of the infinity of the silent spirit. Evolution proceeds at all points of the
being, but is felt only in one principle. Spiritual evolution opens all
the dimensions of spirit in all parts of our being. Spiritual prosperity
is the infinite in life. In the Absolute His infinity is unmanifest. One
principle of it is prominent in movement in evolution. 155) The
greatness of womanhood is its creative potential for manhood. In every
evolutionary sense, womanhood meets manhood with a creative opportunity as
its complement. 156) The
functionings of micronutrients in human health and the productivity of the
soil is a clue for us to reach our luck. Luck can be created by
discofering the right micro-behaviours. 157) If there is a final transformation or a final stage of
transformation, it is an enjoyment which increases the energy. 158) Secret
in the ascent is an essential effective instrument of selfishness. Secret in
the descent is the indispensable strategy of the selfishness to accomplish
impersonally. 159) Efficiency
in an organisation rises when the social, organisational authorities are
replaced by personal authority. As the organisational authority raises the
efficiency of an organisation, raising it from the low level of socially
existing authority, efficiency is in direct proportion to the personal
authority replacing organisational. Authority
accomplishes. Higher authority offers higher efficiency. Organisational
authority is superior to social authority. Personal authority is better than
organisational authority. 160) If force
coming from a plane is received from the same element in that plane, it will
be effective instantaneously. Time is taken for the result when received at
different points. 161) Man
discovers the evolving godhead in himself when he discovers the full
complementary nature of womanhood. He reaches the fullness of Godhood when
the same is discovered by his body in the gross matter outside. 162) The
finest form of self-giving is to give The Mother to another. It is easier to
give ourselves to another, but not so easy to give ourselves to Mother. We
give what we are. To realise Mother in us is the greatest spiritual
experience and then to give Her to another is excellent. Only when the deepest
in us receives the highest and opens in divine magnanimity can one give his
very best — The Mother — to Her. 163) It is
not the quality of knowledge that we accept, but the level of receptivity we
are capable of that determines. Liken
the atmosphere we are in to a tub of water, our personality to a piece
of metal or cork to be immersed and
the hand that holds it in place to the incoming knowledge. The personality
sinks or floats by its own weight, not by the pressure of the hand that holds
it in place. 164) Man is
acutely aware of the enormous waste in Nature. He is not even aware of the
fact that he is surrounded by an abundance to which he can neither pay his
full attention, nor use it in any substantial measure. 165) The
correspondences in life are all pervasive, precise, minutely exact and
exhaustive. All that happens to us in a day can be understood in terms of
our breakfast or dress or any other thing. 166) When we say we forgot Mother, we could not consecrate, etc. we
announce to ourselves that we do not want that desirable result. It also
means we are determined to enjoy the status quo. 167) Initiative moves one of the million points of our personality,
closing all the rest. To wait upon the initiative of the Divine touches us
on all those million points of personality that are awake. 168) As
long as a person hangs on to the mental, social versions of falsehood, he
cannot realise Truth-living. 169) Mother
is the Divine Shakti. The wife is the Mother within the family. The woman is
the Shakti in humanity. The female is
the evolving Eswari. 170) Expectation is the exercise of the ego on the surface when
Time proves too much for the mentality. 171) Memory can be of the present too. In that
form, it is most acute. 172) The
devotee who is clandestinely followed as a leader of sorts is sorry that he
is 173) Wisdom evaluates one’s past. Psychic wisdom is capable of
determining the future in terms of its entire past evolution. It does so
in an instant. 174) The
extreme resourcefulness of humanity is to ridicule the pioneer externally
while secretly imitating him with a vengeance. 175) The foundation of our real joy is the vital glimpse of the mental
marvel. When the physical consciousness sees with the eyes shut, the JOY turns into Ananda through the cruel doors of intolerably
excruciating pain which leads to its opposite. 176) The lapses of the genius that lend to the editing of posterity
are truly lapses; but when seen through the eyes of the plane of genius, they
are not only not lapses, but either doors opening into genius or the higher
marvels of the genius that necessarily show themselves as lapses to the
editor. The genius is humble enough to concede the authority of the editor
but remains insistently original tocontinue to commit those lapses. 177) At least
for one century all over 178) When the Jivatma chooses the choice of Paramatma, Ego finds
itself dissolved. 179) The
prestige of the doctor who refuses house visits is a function of his being in
the seller’s market. The
professional’s prestige is the physical aspect of social growth. Real
prestige is the self-respect of the professional before the society has
accepted his service. Prestige is social, dignity is psychological. 180) Knowledge
of involution is knowledge of life that offers security. Knowledge of
evolution teaches the joy of adventure which is progress. Knowledge of
evolution as the reverse expression of involution gives one mastery over
life; in danger it offers security. 181) Liking
and partiality are largely known as love and affection. 182) The All-inclusive concentration is the first symptom of crossing
the boundaries of the ego. The wide massive openning is the first breaking of
the bounds of the embodied being. 183) Moving
from the unknown to the unknown appreciation converts into annoyance.
Annoyance is the appreciation of one’s own ignorance. Knowledge
appreciates; Ignorance is annoyed. Appreciation and annoyance are the
temperment’s ends of knowledge that stretches into Ignorance. Appreciation
is in the realm of the known. When one can appreciate something in the realm
of the unknown, straining himself a little, he discovers his ignorance and is
annoyed. He ends up appreciating the annoyance. Confine
the appreciation to the known; stretched to the unknown, appreciation
converts itself into annoyance. 184) Social relationships are relationships of status. Psychological
ones are relationships of value. Spiritually, one is fully conscious of the equality of all souls. 185) Of all the paradoxes, the most intriguing is consciousness
growing in the subcosncious without our knowledge. That is what Mother says:
“By being around us, sadhaks receive subconsciously.” 186) Making the act impersonal, and focussing the Force on a
particular act until they meet is the jivatma realising itself as the eternal
Paramatma. It is the moment when Ignorance emerges as knowledge. 187) Expectation
survives as long as we are in Time or Mind. 188) The
character of people will reveal itself irresistibly at times of crisis in
their lives or others. Good luck, death, accident, sudden elevation to high
rank are such events. Under the pressure of events, the surface rips open,
revealing the true person. 189) Egoistic acts do not permit the Force to inform them. 190) Man
exerts himself to the utmost to preserve the higher values by low methods,
moral values by social falsehood and ends up organising and preserving what
values his methods carried. 191) Spiritual
fullness is the spirit in life emerging; its richness is for that spirit to
saturate the substance. ÷¯õP ÁõÌUøP “÷¯õP ÁõÌUøP’ GÝ® ¡À Life Divine uzxÁ[PøÍ ÁõÌøPUS HØÖÁõÖ ©õØÔ

final determinants for the physical, vital, mental and spiritual men are
endurance, temperament, opinion and equality. By shifting to the psychic,
one can still be
determined by the plane he is in. In
the Supramental plane, it is its own determinant. 193) Man’s
working for spiritual fullness and richness is the finest work he can
assign himself; his receiving it from God as of right is the privilege of the
evolving spirit. 194) In a collective work, there is a correspondence of each person
with the result. It may be the same defect in each in a different way. Or one
or a few may have the inverse correspondnce of being positive. In a collective failure, one man’s reversal reverses the
result as his own reversal is from a total consciousness whose reflection may
or may not be felt in each individual concerned. 195) The
relationship between man and God is that of the very opposites, offering
extraordinary convenience of ‘right’ to one and equally great embarrassment
that is destructive. |©US® AßøÚUS® EÒÍ öuhº¦,

capacities converting Grace into
Supergrace is being unable to cherish any of the human values such as honesty
or friendship, etc. By valuing values, we remain human. The human may
receive grace but it is not given to him to receive Supergrace. Grace is
for the best of human beings. Supergrace is for one whose nature longs for
divine nature. The highest value of a fine human being keeps him away
from the Divine and its Supergrace. 197) The
vital man insists on his own rationality vociferously. And it is purely
irrational. 198) The best part of yoga is calling
-- Sri Aurobindo Silent calling without mental articulation is better than
that. Should She be there in you and She chooses to call Herself, it is more
desirable. When Her presence inside has taught the members of our being to
call, calling reaches its evolutionary significance. 199) No
sensitive man who absolves his rivals of the worst of offences can pardon
himself for a defect or lapse. Only when the generosity that flowed to the
rival is extended to himself is he free from ego. Shamelessness is endowed with thoroughness. Shamelessness
is incapable of self-restraint. 200) If the dynamic person enjoys the expression of energy as an
aspect of becoming, the lazy man
enjoys the non-expression of the same energy as an aspect of being. Laziness includes dynamism even as the immutable includes
the mutable. the one is in spirit and the other is in life. The lazy man is the Añµ ¤µ®©® immutable purusha of
life. |
