IV 651)
It is initiated by a supramental knowledge but is
consummated in the supramental body as its being. 652)
That knowledge is that the individual is really
not an individual but Eternal. 653)
It begins by his perception that the individual is
really part of the universe. 654)
To cultivate that knowledge in his mind, he must
be able to see the world events as a reflection of his inner thoughts and
feelings. 655)
Surrender that accomplishes can start as an
attitude but must culminate as the one motive of his being. 656)
Man is finite when he grapples with his mind,
vital and body all of which comprise the surface being. 657)
He is infinite when he discovers his mind, vital and
body are inclusive of the universal mind, vital and body. This occurs in his
inner being. 658)
To move from the finite to the infinite he has
fashioned the instrument of universal sympathy of love. 659)
Mother reveals this possibility to him as mastery
over his environment and circumstances. 660)
In giving man the mastery over life events,
however brief it is, Mother in fact reveals the aspect of Supramental
vibration in him. 661)
To know Her is to enter into Supramental
Consciousness which is infinite. 662)
Mother constantly offers to open the door of
infinity to man, but he chooses every time not to cross it though he accepts
the results of the moment. 663)
He had developed that as a habit in his
relationship with her – to accept the momentarily pleasing result and without
fail close the door of infinity that opened on him by Her Grace. 664)
The doors that open into infinity: ¨
Instead of an alternative, you are offered both ¨
The evil aimed at you brings out a good result. ¨
The whole comes to one who aspired for the part. ¨
The end results are given in the beginning. ¨
More is given than sought after. ¨
When an unvoiced prayer is sanctioned. ¨
When a work is completed before you take the first
step. ¨
When a trouble maker offers a help. ¨
When a gossip refuses to spread. ¨
When an error is rewarded instead of being
punished. ¨
When the victim of wrongdoing apologises. ¨
When a scheme infinitely expands on its own. ¨
The moment when scales fall off the being. ¨
The hour when consciousness expands. ¨
When you see THEM
in your vision. ¨
The vision of golden light. 665)
The eternal
in the individual’s self offering to the eternal Transcendence is the
sacrifice. The Mother’s Force does it on behalf of the individual. It is the
great new force in this yoga. 666)
All the traditional yogas have not emphasised
sacrifice nor has The Mother. It is like GOI without the Planning Commission.
Mother is the Planning Commission. 667)
Before the advent of the welfare state, all
individual progress was on his own personal effort which means nil. 668)
It is the welfare state, the Planning Commission,
the development programmes of the government that enable the citizen to rise
and stand on his own. Without the generous lending of banks, no industry
would have come up. 669)
The GOI
bridges the gap between the effort of the individual and the prosperity of
the nation even as Mother abridges 30,000 years into 30 years. 670)
Having dispensed with asanas, pranayama, {èøh, mantra, japa, HE offers Life as the field of yoga,
constant remembrance of the Self as all as the only mantra, expressing that
knowledge in works the only exercise. 671)
The infinity that is spiritual and essential and
can be felt in a second or in the infinitesimal is the key to the practical
concept of infinity. 672)
The Divine in oneself, in others and the
Transcendent Divine are the three fundamental realisations that appear
ultimate for the Jnanayogi while it is not true. There are others. (p. 132.
SYUEd.) 673)
Mother alone can do this yoga is the secret. In
life at each level there is a mother. To discover it is the yogic secret of
life. Making the boss the Mother is one such. 674)
The only acceptable surrender is that made face to
face says HE which makes the sadhak wait till he realises his soul. By asking
him to surrender to Mother HE makes that stupendous supernormal effort
simple. 675)
Grace always offers, rarely thrusts luck down the
unwilling throat. Sherlock Holmes often meets with the unreasonable client
who resists help. 676)
Society transmits its knowledge to the individual
through family and the educational system. The school gives mental education,
family gives cultural endowments. 677)
The Divine tries to reach man through Sri
Aurobindo and The Mother. Sri Aurobindo gives the knowledge, Mother the
power. 678)
Mother comes to man in life as a saving grace,
protection, power that helps. All that man has to do is to rely on Her who
will take him to HIM. 679)
Mother gives the end results in the beginning
because SHE tries to educate
through life. Result is the medium in life. 680)
She comes to him as grace and supergrace. His
faith in Her brings grace. His loss of faith in his own capacity brings supergrace. 681)
The Upanishads have declared that man is eternal,
the same eternal that is behind everything transient. They did not explain
how that Eternal changed into the transient. 682)
What the Upanishads have left unexplained, the
sadhak of Integral yoga must know, practise and realise. 683)
The instrument for that realisation is surrender.
While surrender is an attitude with which one begins yoga, when it becomes a
motive, realisation begins. 684)
The One is reconciled with the Many when the human
soul becomes the Divine Soul. 685)
The One is reconciled with the Many above the lid
and below the lid in two different ways. 686)
The psychic effects that realisation in life
through surrender in the inner being eliminating ego and falsehood. 687)
Above the lid they are in a state of unity not
needing reconciliation. It is the human mind looking at it from below which
sees the contradiction or unbridgeable gap which does not really exist above. 688)
To know God in the ascent man must know he is part
of the universe. 689)
It was easier for the sannyasin to know the
Brahman more fully than it is for the materialist because he was working in a
subtle medium whereas the materialist’s field is dense inconscience. 690)
Humanity’s way of raising the Aryan balance was to
seek the goal in parts first. 691)
Sri Aurobindo does not propose to restore that
balance step by step going through the vital, mental, spiritual stages. 692)
HE proposes to go to the Supermind direct and
establish the balance because already 693)
The process HE discovered is involution,
self-absorption and evolution. 694)
Right understanding of ignorance issues out of
this process and vice-versa. 695)
Till HIS arrival on the scene, Mind had given
various responses high and low. 696)
In the Upanishads Mind had not lost its connection
with the Supermind. So they did not make
categorical partial statements, but they could not know the truth not
having access to Supermind. 697)
Then came the fall and progress in Buddha,
Shankara, etc. 698)
The fall was to disturb the Aryan balance, the
progress was to develop mind further. 699)
Mental development in Buddha led him to see the
truth of Nirvana which he made final. 700)
Shankara took the further step which Buddha
refused to take, but did it by emphasising mind and creating illusion out of
Ignorance. |
